Lions are recognized worldwide for their service to the blind and visually impaired. Lions founded our eye bank almost forty years ago, and we continue to be supported by local Lions Clubs who provide leadership by serving on our all-volunteer Board of Directors and making financial contributions.
New Mexico Donor Services
New Mexico Donor Services (NMDS) is the non-profit organ and tissue recovery organization serving the state of New Mexico. The New Mexico Lions Eye Bank partners closely with NMDS to help reach out to donor families in our communities and promote the gift of eye, organ, and tissue donation. Learn more about NMDS.
New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator
The Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) investigates any death occurring in the State of New Mexico that is sudden, violent, untimely, unexpected, or where a person is found dead and the cause of death is unknown. The OMI determines the cause and manner of death in these cases, and provides formal death certification. NM Lions Eye Bank works closely with the OMI staff in Albuquerque and throughout the state to insure that donation can be realized for cases that fall under their purview. New Mexico Hospitals
New Mexico Lions Eye Bank works closely with health care professionals in 40 hospitals, sharing best practices and critical information about organ, tissue and eye donation.
New Mexico Funeral Homes
New Mexico Lions Eye Bank partners with Funeral Home Directors across New Mexico to assure that the family’s wish to donate and their desire for a meaningful funeral can be fulfilled.
